I am a Dallas Cowboy fan since 1960's and I can see your comparitive points and agree with the teams similiarities except for one. Did the owner of the Vikings claim to be in the Junior World series as a child? Talk has it, they never found his name on any Junior World series team roster.

Gay-Raiders, right. 1) The only reason the Cowboys don't play in Dallas is because the democratic mayor at the time would not allow a bond issue to build Jerry's World in Dallas County to even see the ballot for a public vote (see fair grounds). Arlington jumped at the opportunity and passed the bond issue, thereby, winning Jerry's World for their money. 2) Jerry, for all his troubles, is ten time the GM over Al Davis. 3) The lack of traffic on this any many other Dallas Cowboy websites is due to the hughe dissappointment in the last playoff game and, more precisely, the Dallas Cowboy offensive output.

I most post was not intended to blame Jerry for the location of the stadium. He just took the best most timely business deal. That doesn't make him a bad owner. In fact I believe he is a great owner but he has the second worse General Manager in the league... Himself. Oh, by the way on a marginally related point about the stadium and Dallas City Government. Dallas County and City have some the most corrupt and incompetent municipal officials in the country and it is sad. Dallas lost out on the Horse Track, Texas Motor Speedway, the Rangers Ballpark and now the Cowboys. Those are just the marquee projects because their sport associations but many more projects went down the tube because of cronyism in Dallas government. When will the voters say enough and throw all these bums out whether DEM or REP? So with that in mind I don't have much hope for a big turn around in Dallas Nation because if they are anything like Dallas voters they will continue to be served crap and like it.

Ok, first I should introduce myself. I am a fan of the Minnesota Vikings so take this for what ever it is worth. I know it too soon, but I'm going to do this any way.
Since the days of our legendary coaches retired all has gone to hell with both of our franchises. I'm referring to Bud Grant and Tom Landry, but this is just reflexion of a problem that they both saw in their own teams, Instability in ownership.
In the case of the Vikings it meant 3 different ownership groups all with different agendas and philosophies worst of which was Red McCombs, a tight wad penny pinching bastard that screwed the franchise for his personal financial gain. If you want reasons I'll be happy to give plenty of examples. Until we got an owner that treats his franchise like a business and put professionals in place that are better at running areas of the franchise better than he could.
In some ways he has done a great job. Rob Bryzinzski for example is our salary cap guy and may be the best in the NFL. On the other hand Brad Chilldress is a moron and couldn't coach ants to go to a picnic. He is a great talent evaluator but that isn't what he is getting paid for. The Vikings now have 10 players in this years pro bowl that is the most in recent history if not ever. With that amount of talent we should walk through the Super Bowl to the Lombardy trophy with no problem but trust me he will find a way to screw it up. Please don't ask about selling our teams soul to the Devil.
To make a long story short, we have the same problem an executive that is afraid to cut ties with a coach because he is showing a little progress.
However maybe you are in a worse situation. Your owner has had success, and he thinks he can do it again. But trust me the Hershel Walker trade will never happen again, even the Vikings aren't dumb enough to do that again. You are in a situation closer to the Raiders. (I'm sorry for that, that was mean) Jerry hasn't done any thing as crazy as Al yet, but then again we will see how not having a collective bargaining agreement turns out.

I'm not sure I'd blame Jerry for the Cowboys playing in Arlington. He gave the city of Dallas every chance to bring the Cowboys back to Dallas. They decided they would be better off renovating the Cotton Bowl. Well, I think we all know how that turned out.

That said, I think the pacification of the fan base will be very short-lived. The stadium (and the subsequent home playoff game) only worked to excite the fans for a very short time. The way the 2009 season ended and the promise of more of the same in 2010 will bring about the renewed unease of Cowboy Nation.

The lack of traffic on this website is testament to the dire state that the Cowboy's Nation is in 2010. Lowered expectations and disassociation with reality describes the majority of Cowboy fans. We have officially become the NFC's version of the AFC's Raiders only we have a better stadium than the Raiders. It is no coincidence that the only consistent contributors (minus Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins) are acquisitions of the Bill Parcell's era. The players acquired under Bill Parcell's will age and eventually be replaced by Jerry's picks and the Cowboys will revert back to the 1996- 2002 period of disarray. The Dallas Cowboys are no longer really the Dallas Cowboys they are Jerry's Cowboys. Want proof? They don't play in Dallas County. As time goes on I truly realize greatness of the 1995 Cowboys. What other team in NFL history can truly say they won a Superbowl without a head coach? Jerry Jones meddling has cheated Dallas fans out of at least 1 Superbowl and arguably 2 more if injuries weren't a major factor.

I'm laying off the coaching staff. I'm starting to feel sorry for them. They never have a chance. They aren't given what they need to lead and then they are blamed by the same overbearing Owner/President/GM who wouldn't give them what they needed in the first place.
