preach on, brother! unfortunately, jerry's crazy ways insure that it's harder and harder for real fans to demand it. he'll certainly sell out his new stadium and the cowboys will always be a big tv draw. until it hurts his pocketbook we true fans are on the outside preaching to fellow outsiders, i fear.

Jerry directs everything, including the general nature of play calling, anyway. I fail to understand why he can't hire a real GM, get out of the way of the football people, and enjoy all of the activities that keep other owners busy. If he did that, the flawed organizational structure that now exists would be fixed, and maybe there would be accountability by everyone, including the GM. As it stands now, our GM is accountable to no one. Our Head Coach, whomever that might be, is powerless and is minimalized by ridiculous GM moves like the Gag Order. While I have been a JJ fan for years, I have definitely changed, because it is HE who is the constant during the years that we have not won a playoff game, much less a Super Bowl. He must step down. He must. The fans must demand it in a way that forces his hand. We deserve it.

Seriously, would it have killed them to have the Redskins play the inaugural Thanksgiving game at the new stadium? At least that way they could keep their psychotic owner angle and give us a match up that might actually interest someone. But alas, common sense must have taken a back seat during the NFL's money grab (I'm talking about their new deal with DirecTV).

I'm with you. This is a signature game not just for the Cowboys, but for the NFL - why can't they treat it as such by creating a decent matchup. I know the league isn't officially in the business of predicting how teams will perform each year, but that's obviously something they do when determining the primetime matchups. They figure out who is going to be decent this year and/or a big TV draw and schedule the games accordingly. Why can't they treat the Thanksgiving games that way to by scheduling a marquee opponent? As you mentioned, they certainly seem to have done that with the primetime game that night. Awfully fishy...

You know what would really make me throw up my turkey? Losing to the Raiders. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit, just thinking about it.

In all seriousness, this match up is a joke. It's bad enough that NFL fans have to put up with Detroit every year, now they have to watch the Raiders immediately following it? The conspiracy theorist in me - which is admittedly very dormant - suspects that this was set up on purpose as a means to pump up the NFL Network game in the evening. Denver-NY provides a much more compelling match up than GB-Detroit and Dallas-Oakland, rivalry notwithstanding.

It's bad enough that people are complaining that the traditional Detroit and Dallas games should be done away with. But the NFL is doing them no favors by not at least giving the Cowboys a decent match up.

Personally, I couldn't care less what people say about the Cowboys playing on Thanksgiving Day. They're as synonymous with the holiday as pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce. But throwing the Raiders into the mix is like ordering chicken fingers at a fancy restaurant. It's just not right.
