Jerry, will you be our Valentine?

by - February 13, 2009 - Posted in Dear Mr. Jones

Dear Mr. Jones,

Will you be our Valentine?  We know we’ve been hard on you in the past, but you know what they say, you always hurt the ones you love.  And we do love you, Mr. Jones, as the owner of our beloved Dallas Cowboys.  If only you would listen to us on the pesky GM issue, it would be a perfect pairing.

But alas, nothing is perfect, so without further ado, here is the Top 10 Things We Love about you, Jerry Jones:

1. You’re one of very few NFL owners who actually had some success PLAYING football
2. Who can resist an insecure billionaire who just wants to be loved?
3. It’s always better to be lucky than good
4. You possess a snappy sense of style and always look good roaming the sidelines at games
5. You’re absolutely fearless about taking risks
6. You’re a marketing genius
7. Nouveau riche subtlety works for the new stadium
8. You’re willing to put your money where your mouth is
9. We’d LOVE to get a beer with you
10. Good crazy, in the right environment with the proper controls, can lead to genius

So despite our many disagreements, we are hopeful of working things out.  Because deep down we do love you, faults and all (at least as owner, but never as GM – there are boundaries to every relationship).

With much love,

Fans of the Dallas Cowboys

I myself like what Jerry Jones has done for the COWBOYS. I also agree he has over stepped his ownwership a little. After the last Super bowl win under Jimmy Johnson I felt my team was going down the tubes, Barry Switzer to me was a joke, yea he got us a ring but at what cost. When you have something that works very good and gets better with each game why would you let it go.(Jimmy J.) I've watched the COWBOYS play everytime they have been on the tube.I do believe my first COWBOY game I watched started in 1977. I was 11 years old and I became a fan forever. I live in Pennsylvania and believe me I get alot of ridicule form Steeler, Bills, & Browns fans, but I have stayed true to my team I've gone as far as buying 50 cans of blue and silver spray paint and painting the steeler fan next door to me entire yard in COWBOY colors. By the way his yard was covered in snow and nothing was ruined. That was when we won our last super bowl. But as I reflect back on the days after that and the snow began to melt and all the blue and silver paint began to run down the sewer, I wonder if JerryGMJones knows wether he can keep our boys from going down the sewer or if he can really make a difference its been to long we need more wins than excuses. Yours truley Brian
